About Me

Hello and welcome to Jones Elite Training, I am coach Jones founder of JET, a sports performance company created to help individuals and teams enhance their athletic abilities through functional strength development and functional movement training. My philosophy is built on the T2C concept. This concept employs the belief in which coach/athlete relationship is paramount in the success of the individual. Through Trust between coach and athlete, a Commitment to excellence in all we do, and a sense of Care for what we do and why, great things can be achieved. These three qualities are vital to a successful relationship and develops an environment that cultivates success physically as well as psychologically. I have trained athletes in various sports such as baseball, football, soccer, and track and field to name a few and various levels from youth to the professional ranks. I hold an IAAF elite coaching certification in sprints and hurdles as well as USA track and field certifications in sprints, hurdles and relays, distance and endurance events, horizontal jumps and coaching instructor. I have taught numerous classes for USATF that has resulted in the Level 1 certification for hundreds of coaches nationwide. I am currently the #1 rated private track and field and football trainer in the state of South and North Carolina and am ranked in the top ten nationally in both sports according to Coachup.com rankings. In 2018 I coached two individuals to North Carolina high school state titles in the 100 and 200 and the New Balance 200-meter champion. A total of 8 JET athletes earned all-state honors in North and South Carolina, and I coached the #4 ranked hurdler (13-14), and #1 youth 11 year old sprinter. Prior to private coaching I coached track and field and cross country collegiately for 13 years and have coached at every collegiate level as well as youth, middle and high school.

Education: I hold a masters degree from The Ohio State University in Physical education, and served for four years as the USA track and field Pacific Association Men's open outdoor track and field chair. I have a bachelors of science degree in physical education from Morgan State University, and an Associate of Arts degree in Parks and Recreation management from Central Arizona Junior College.

Athletic highlights: As a college student athlete at Morgan State University, I competed in both football and track and field. While at Morgan I was a four-time MEAC and IC4A champion in the 200 meters and still hold the indoor 200 meter stadium record at Cornell University that I set back in 1998. I achieved NCAA division I All-American status in the 200 meters. Prior to Morgan State I attended Central Arizona Junior College where I helped lead my team to a national championship. I would later return as a coach 5 years later and earn two National coach of the year awards while leading our teams to 7 national team titles. In football I am a National Semi pro football hall of fame inductee and high school hall of fame inductee. In high school I was the 1994 Arizona state champion in the long jump and triple Jump.
